
Arno A. Rayner, CFA
Founder, CEO & Co-owner
Arno Rayner founded Rayner Associates in 1977 after more than 20 years in the investment management industry. Arno has been honored personally and professionally throughout his career, including being recognized as an Honorary Lifetime Member (for excellence in his profession) by the Security Analysts of San Francisco in 2005, as well as being named a Distinguished Citizen of Marin County by the Marin Boy Scouts in 1999.
Arno began his career in the Army Finance Corps during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked as a security analyst for four years with the Bank of California. He then moved to Industrial Indemnity, a Bechtel-owned insurance company, where he advanced to create and head the investment department and later became senior vice president. In 1974, Crum & Forster took over Industrial Indemnity and Arno moved to Bechtel Corp. as vice president of investments. Three years later, an opportunity arose for Arno to found Rayner Associates with colleagues from former employers.
Arno serves on a number of civic and corporate boards. He is a member of the San Francisco Bond Club, the Security Analysts of San Francisco, the American Philatelic Society, and other organizations.
Arno has a BS in economics and an MBA, with a concentration in investments, from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He and his wife live in Tiburon.
